legal or not?

I need real answers here regarding my right as a tenant. I am living in a co-op apartment in Manhattan. The shareholder who owns my apartment has asked me to meet up with her to renew my sublease. I am wondering why she is asking me to bring two recent pay stubs for review. I remembered when I moved in I went through the board process and was approved. I have always paid my rent on time. So, I am curious as to why he requires this information? Is this legal?
