Why?

I have been living in a co-op apartment for two years now. My apartment is located in Tampa, Florida. Since then something has been bewildering me. Many buildings do not allow washer and dryers in the apartments. Why? I have never seen a similar prohibition on dishwashers. I knew it’s a small matter but it bothers me because I need a washer and dryer. Why would a co-op allow dishwashers but not clothes washers and dryers?
