How is the internet changing the real estate market?

I want to work in a real estate here in Chicago. I graduated for a four-year course in Marketing and I want to try working on a real estate firm. I have a interest in selling houses. I have several properties, which I was able to sell a few years ago. I did not hire any agent and I worked alone in selling my house. I found good client and made a good deal. I could not do that without the help of the Internet and Online marketing. I am just wondering what is the impact the real estate because of technology specifically in the online marketing of real estate. How is the internet changing the real estate market?
