Real Estate license or Real Estate appraiser

I am a working mom and I work at home in the Washington DC area. I need to work from home 90% of the time. I also have a home office. Can you tell me if I should pursue a Real Estate license or would it be better to become a Real Estate appraiser? Is there any difference in the commissions between the two?
