Is there a way we can recoup our down payment?

I need a good answer. My family is living here in Alabama. Our house is a three-story Mediterranean design with four bedrooms and three-bathrooms. We are planning to sell our house, which was appraised at $250,000. We bought the house for $355,000 and we put $100,000 down. We owe $220,000. Is there a way we can get back our down payment? What is the best thing to do?
