Can I still switch to other agents?

Yesterday, I looked into a property somewhere in Norfolk, Virginia. Together with my Realtor; who quite obviously has no clue on what he is doing. I really want to purchase that house but I do not want the hassle of working with an agent who does not know his business. Can I still switch to other agents? Can I still buy the house that I want?
